Welcome to another exciting episode of Make It Short! Once again, we brought together a stellar lineup of film industry pros ready to dive into the nitty-gritty of filmmaking, and share some juicy insights on a handpicked short film.

Our mission? To give constructive feedback and create a valuable learning experience based on the stories of the filmmakers we interview. Joining me on this episode are the super-talented Bernhard Pucher, filmmaker and co-founder of CenterFrame, and Jörn Threlfall, a BAFTA-nominated writer-director. Let's get this party started!

Today we are talking about the incredible and one-of-a-kind short film Mr Sisyphus, written and directed by a very talented young filmmaker, Jedi Kang. A school project, the film is about a teacher - the titular Mr Sisyphus - played by Jedi's real-life father. The story follows the teacher as he becomes more and more exasperated with his boring, meaningless professional life. Everything changes when one day he borrows his son’s new bicycle and decides to ride back home. This becomes a brand new hobby for Mr Sisyphus. But what began as a hobby soon becomes an obsession, and his life seems to acquire a whole new meaning when he decides to ride up a difficult hill near his home.

We were lucky to have Jedi submit this unique short film to us. Both Bernhard and Jörn loved the film and the easy-going atmosphere it delivered, with inspired editing and polished cinematography styles. We also had a conversation with Jedi himself where he shared the experience of filming a short film with his father in Korea, and his inspirations, which include the wonderful Wong Kar-wai and Park Chan-wook. We were all shocked by the laid-back filmmaking style employed by Jedi and impressed with the result of his work!
