Hello and welcome to a new episode of Make It Short.

Today we are, once more, hosting the show from my homeland - Brazil! I got together with Brazilian screenwriter and director Lucas Abrahão, and from our studio in London, we were joined by my co-host, filmmaker and CenterFrame CEO Bernhard Pucher.

This space is dedicated to talking about the thing we love the most: short film making! The short film we discussed today, My Toughest Battle, was submitted to us by writer and actor Liam Collins. Together we analysed My Toughest Battle, a drama that follows a boxer who goes through mental health difficulties while facing one of the most crucial moments of his professional life. This is the first time we had a chance to talk not only to the writer but also to the protagonist of the film!

Our first impression of this short film was very positive; we all praised Liam for tackling such an important topic and doing that in a very respectful fashion. Lucas mentioned that, by being an actor and the film's writer, Liam offered more authenticity to the story. Bernhard also praised that aspect of My Toughest Battle and said that, while the production apparently suffered from a limited budget and challenging locations, the production team did a good job with the material they had. When Liam joined us to talk more about his experience with the film and its topic, we also asked many questions about being the film's protagonist and his relationship with the director.

We certainly learnt a lot by talking with Liam and analysing My Toughest Battle. His experience as a writer and actor offered a really interesting perspective on filmmaking and how to bring a short film to life. We also had a chance to understand the choices made during the production.

Despite some difficulties, at the end of the day we had a very solid short film with a very relevant message, with great tone and so many other qualities - So don't forget to click play and watch both the short film, and our video where we discuss the process of bringing this film to life.
The short films we explore are always wonderful testaments to the unwavering dedication of independent filmmakers in achieving their goals, and My Toughest Battle was no exception.
